N’Delta youths pen Tinubu, condemn protest against Dennis Otuaro as PAP Administrator

2 min read

The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urging him to ignore those it tagged as ‘faceless charlatans’ masquerading as Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society, who are said to be protesting against the appointment of Dr. Dennis Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

Their letter to the President dated Monday, 29th April, 2024 and signed by the National president of NDYC, Amb. Bene Youkore Mamamu, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State noted that the agitators “were allegedly sponsored to discredit the appointment of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme”.

While noting that the Niger Delta struggle started from Delta State, the NDYC stated that it was time for those who championed peace when the region was at gunpoint to benefit from the Amnesty Programme and “thanked President Tinubu for finding an Ijaw son from Delta State worthy of the appointment”.

The NDYC also reaffirmed their “unwavering support for Dr. Dennis Otuaro” and urged President Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser to “disregard the misguided protests of controversial groups that styled themselves as the Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society.

The open letter partly reads, “We are calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser to disregard the cowardly call from faceless and questionable groups calling for the sack of Dennis Otuaro, a man whose qualifications and capacity to take such lead has been long overdue.

“The Coalition of Niger Civil Society Group is a product of some few greedy individuals on a reckless mission for self-gratification.

“As a Council, we will continue to support Tinubu’s administration as long as Niger Delta interest is protected. We will ensure that the region is peaceful and will contribute to the meaningful development of the region by supporting and complementing government efforts at all levels.

“We also want to state categorically that We will vehemently resist any negative moves to push Dennis Otuaro from office and will hunt down those behind such devilish call. We are ready to deploy all means to deal decisively with mischief makers, the undocumented and non-existent group that should be ignored.

“Those who are behind the move are enemies of the peace and development of the Niger Delta.
“It should interest Mr. President to know that Niger Delta stakeholders are fully in support of the choice made by Mr. President and NDYC commends the choice”.
