Ismail’s actions contravened Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, which prescribe a jail term and dismissal from service with dishonor for such offenses. His dismissal is a clear indication that the Nigerian Army will not tolerate indecent professional misconduct, particularly when it involves the violation of a colleague’s marital relationship.

According to sources, Ismail had a history of sexual indiscipline before his dismissal, and his actions were deemed a serious breach of the Army’s code of conduct. The Nigerian Army has made it clear that it will not condone such behavior and will take decisive action against any personnel found guilty of similar offenses.
This action by the Nigerian Army is bound to resonate and bring caution to any other soldier who may be having sexual interest in a colleague’s wife.
