APC suspends Jimoh Ibrahim over alleged anti-Party activities

Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was initiated by 16 members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward 11 in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, as detailed in a suspension letter obtained by SaharaReporters.

According to the letter, the Ward Executives accused the senator for openly expressing his intention to disrupt the APC before exiting the Party. They cited his recent actions and derogatory remarks about the APC in various media outlets as evidence of his anti-party stance.
The suspension letter was signed by several ward executive members, including Bakere Usuf, Tore Obwoselu, Oloyinmi Idowu, Borewaye Louyomi, Oladipupo Bose, Alkimbobola Seyi, Lawal-Babatunde, Aritawe-Ademole, Akinkuoju Olarewaju, and Fabioye Ajoke.

The letter highlighted Senator Jimoh’s decision to take legal action against the party and his engagement in activities contrary to the party’s interests. It referenced a meeting chaired by the National Party Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, with Ondo State governorship aspirants, where they were urged to support the party’s candidate, the incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Honorable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Despite this directive, Senator Jimoh proceeded to sue both the Governor and the APC, disregarding party instructions. Additionally, he allegedly encouraged his supporters in Igbotako and Ondo State to join another party, the NPP, claiming he would soon receive the gubernatorial ticket from them.

The suspension, effective immediately, was carried out in accordance with Article 21, Section A of the APC Constitution, which addresses acts of insubordination and anti-party activities. The letter concluded by reiterating Senator Jimoh’s alleged intent to disrupt the APC before leaving the party, as evidenced by his actions in the Federal High Court in Abuja and his negative comments about the APC in various media platforms.
