Again, tragedy erupts in Iran as earthquake hits country

After its unexplainable multiple drones and missiles attacks against military targets inside Israel numbering over 300 recently, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake on Richer scale rattled Malayer in the Hamedan province of western Iran on Monday.

This came after officials of the government of Iran, including President Ebrahim Raisolsadati, commonly known as Ebrahim Raisi, were confirmed dead in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

Media reports indicate that the earthquake, reported by the Seismological Centre of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran, reportedly occured at 08:20:52 local time and was 10 kilometers deep.

The tremor’s epicenter, according to reports, was located 9 kilometers from Samen, 18 kilometers from Malayer, and 18 kilometers from Oshtorinan.

Meanwhile, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been announced.

However, this is coming just a day after President Raisi, 63 died in a helicopter crash, an unfortunate incident that has plunged the country into deep mourning.

Rescuers on Monday found the crashed helicopter in the mountainous northwest reaches of Iran.

The helicopter crashed weeks after Iran launched barrage of drones and missiles on Israel in response to a deadly strike on its diplomatic compound in Damascus.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has declared a five-day period of national mourning to honour the late president and the passengers on board who also died.
