Zamfara gov. lauds Tinubu’s govt, Military efforts against armed bandits

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Nigerian military for increasing troop presence in the state to combat banditry.

He specifically lauded the efforts of the Joint Task Force in their continuous crackdown on the perpetrators responsible for unrest in the state.

The governor’s remarks were made following a State Security Council meeting, which centered on the security situation and the ongoing efforts to tackle banditry.

The meeting saw the participation of heads of all security agencies in the state, including the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Governor Lawal praised the troops for their achievements in the fight against banditry, acknowledging the progress made thus far.

He said: “Today’s meeting will evaluate the state security situation, assess our progress, and pinpoint areas requiring intensified efforts to enhance the security of our people’s lives and property.

“As I have always emphasised to the security council, the priority of my administration is the security of lives and properties.

“Therefore, we are always prepared to provide all the necessary support to various security agencies in the state to help them carry out their duties diligently and effectively.

“I want to thank the Federal Government and the military for deploying additional troops to the state.

“This strategic move aims to eliminate all bandits, and we have started seeing results.
“I also commend the troops for the arrest of a group of kidnappers in Gusau and the rescue of kidnapped victims across the state, including in Gusau, Maradun and Kauran Namoda, local government area.”
