1 min read

The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has announced the temporary suspension of the $300 helicopter landing levy collection by its concessionaire.
This decision, communicated by Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of the Press and Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry, aims to address concerns raised by industry stakeholders.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Lagos, Mr. Oluseyi clarified that the suspension did not revoke the concession granted to the consultants responsible for collecting the levy. Instead, it provided an opportunity for the Ministry to conduct a comprehensive review and develop a forward-thinking approach.

A specially constituted committee, comprising representatives from the Ministry, relevant agencies, Airline Operators of Nigeria, and International Oil Companies (IOCs), has been tasked with examining the issues and formulating solutions.

Mr. Oluseyi emphasised the importance of accurate reporting in facilitating progress and fostering a supportive environment for the aviation industry’s growth. He called for constructive dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, highlighting the industry’s significance and the need for collective efforts to ensure its success.

The Ministry’s response reflects its commitment to addressing stakeholders’ concerns and promoting a sustainable and thriving aviation sector. As the committee works towards a resolution, stakeholders are urged to remain calm and supportive, recognizing the vital role of the aviation industry in national development.
