NMA Enugu chapter promises to tackle quacks, other infractions in medical practice

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Enugu State Council, has promised to tackle quackery and other infractions in medical practice in the State.
This was contained in a statement by the newly elected officer of the Enugu State Chapter of the association.
The Chapter made the disclosure following the resolutions reached at the Congress that preceded their Annual General meeting and election held in Enugu state.
The NMA is the largest professional body in the West African region. It has over 40,000 members across the country.

According to experts, about 45% of Nigerian doctors practice in urban areas where only 55% of the population lives.
As a result, there is an unbalanced doctor-patient ratio. And this is one of the challenges of the Nigerian health system that the association, Federal and State Governments are trying to address.
Emerging victorious through the newly introduced E-voting process, the new executive promised to address the myriads of challenges confronting the association. The pledged to work towards the smooth operations of the association and to protect the welfare of its members in the state.

In his remark, the new chairman underscores his executive’s projection towards reconciling and reforming the state chapter. He maintained that they are poised to deliver the expected service to the public.
The Enugu State chapter also used the occasion to dissociate itself from another faction body of the association in the State. They alleged that the faction group is being sponsored by the national body. And cautioned, therefore, against dealing with them.
The NMA Enugu promised to promote moral conduct and good medical practice guided with ethics. They also promised to unite all parties with the aim to ensure that NMA Enugu retuned to its prestigious state.
