1 min read

Convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has ridiculed the Council of State meeting held, on Tuesday, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja.

Sowore, a human rights activist and a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), disparagingly described the gathering of former presidents and Heads of State, including immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, as a ‘meeting of failures’.
In a post on his X account, Mr. Sowore wrote, “Failure meeting Failure: Today in Abuja at the Presidential Villa, a former failed President @MBuhari had a meeting with the current failed President @officialABAT.”

Recall that a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was conspicuously absent from the Council of State meeting held at the Presidential Villa, which was chaired by President Bola Tinubu.

Former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Yakubu Gowon, and Abdulsalami Abubakar joined the meeting virtually, alongside other attendees.

The Council of State, which provides advisory support to the President on critical policy matters, includes the Vice President, Senate President and other high-ranking officials.
This gathering comes on the heels of nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests against economic hardship and fuel subsidy removal.
