Zone ‘B’ Zonal Coordinator of Customs commissions sports facility in Kebbi

…Warns officers against allowing ‘Camo Boys” in checking points

The Assistant Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (ACG) and Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘B’, Kaduna area, comprising of Sokoto and Kebbi states, Sambo Khaliel Dangaladima, has commissioned a football mini-field in Kebbi Area Command sponsored by Stakeholders in the state.

During the commissioning, he charged officers in Kebbi State Area Command to restrict the infiltration of ‘camp boys’, into their checking points and shun any act of indiscipline in the course of their duties.
The Zonal Coordinator also Commission e-learning centre, built by the stakeholders in the state as result of their cordial relationship with the Kebbi State Area Command and the Library was named after the CGC,Mr. Wale Adeniyi e-learning Centre.

Speaking on the facilities, “these facilities are fantastic. I was told it was sponsored by the stakeholders because of the collaboration with them. It’s take a serious Comptroller like Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike who knows what his doing that could establish these kind of facilities”.

He also said that, the NCS has no camp boys in any of their checking points and the officers have been told not to allow these illegal people to penetrates their professional work.

Speaking on the killing of their officers on duty, Dangaladima said:”in life,wherever you go,there are threats. So,in the course of our duties,we are bound to be facing series of threats. So,we are not going to allow these threats to deter us from our duties. So, officers,I encourage you all to continue to discharge your duties as expected. To our stakeholders,we are soliciting for your support. And you should know that those officers you are seeing at various checking points were posted by the management for national interest.

“So, I urge you our stakeholders to continue to cooperate with our officers anytime you see them on the roads at various checking points”, he said.
Addressing officers, Dangaladima said the NCS was aware of the numerous security challenges facing them in the state from banditry to kidnapping, smuggling, and other cross-border crimes.

“But I have faith in each and every one of you. Together, we can overcome these challenges and ensure a safer, more secure Kebbi State. To achieve our goals, we must strengthen our partnerships with local stakeholders, traditional leaders, and sister agencies. We must also engage with our communities, listen to their concerns, and address their needs. This is crucial in building trust and fostering a culture of cooperation.

“Secondly, in the course of resuscitating the powers of the zonal offices, the current administration has returned the responsibility of posting and discipline of officers from the rank of inspector and below, to be handled at the zones. “Subsequently, the zone is working on the implementation of these directives and has already constituted a disciplinary committee and is working towards reshuflement of the affected officers, respectively.
“Finally, on the issue of welfare our amiable CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR is aware of the hardship that officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service are experiencing due to the current economic situation in the country.
“The CGC is working tirelessly to ensure that something is done to ease the effect of the high cost of living. I assure you that the CGC will put a very big smile on your faces.
“Your hard work and professionalism have not gone unnoticed, keep striving for excellence, and let’s work together to make Kebbi Command a model of efficient and effective Customs operation” he said.
The Zonal Coordinator also visited Emir Gwandu’, Alhaji Muhammad Illiyasu Bashar, at his palace to soliciting for his Royal Highness support for the activities of the Customs in the state.

He was hosted by Comptroller of Kebbi State Area Command, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike and other officers.
