Pro-Biafra groups demand Diplomatic, legal action for Igbo-Must-Go campaign

2 min read

The leadership of the Coalition of Pro-Biafra Organisations (COPROBIG) has urged Igbo leaders to initiate a collective legal process for the self-determination of the Igbo nation.
The call came in response to a recent directive from an anonymous group urging the Igbo to leave Lagos State.
COPROBIG included several pro-Biafra groups such as the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Eastern Peoples Congress (EPC), Billie Human Rights Initiative (BHRI), Biafra Liberation Council (BLC), Biafra Revolutionary Force (BRF), Biafra Revolutionary Organization (BRO), Biafra Reconciliation (BR), and Union of Biafra Scientists and Engineers.

The Coalition criticised what it called the ‘lack of response’ from prominent Yoruba leaders, including Otumba Gani Adams and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adedeye Ogunwusi (OJAJA II) as well as other traditional, religious and opinion leaders regarding the threats to Igbo lives and property.

The statement read, “We commend the courage of the southwestern states in Nigeria, which have now called for the Igbo Biafrans to leave the country.
“We previously handled the northern region’s quit notice from October 2017 with caution, and now this call from the southern states represents a deep-seated hatred and marginalization of Ndigbo.”
The Coalition also condemned the perceived leniency of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Federal Government, pointing out the lack of arrests of those behind the Igbo-Must-Go protests as evidence of possible government support for the movement.

They called on Igbo diplomats to join forces with other supportive African leaders to advocate for the restoration of the state of Biafra.
