2 min read

Ogun State Statistician-General, Mr. Michael Babatunde Ajayi, has charged Statisticians in the state to evolve and trend with modern technologies and innovative techniques in the discharge of their duties.

Ajayi made this known at the opening of a 2-day capacity building and training programme for the Bureau’s Technical Committee, Statisticians and Statistical Officers, at the Bureau of Statistics’ Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Ajayi, in a statement by the Press Officer, Bureau of Statistics, Mrs. Pelumi Odurombi, said the quarterly training was a veritable platform to prepare Statisticians in the state for the tasks ahead, especially the coming General Household and Community Enterprises Survey.

While taking participants through the training, the facilitator, Mr. Olalekan Muyideen of the Research Methodology Department in Bureau of Statistics, underscored the importance of googleConnect, as a strong method in carrying out statistical processes.

According to him, googleConnect provides access to Cloud-based data, such as cloud data flow, which offers Statisticians a high-level programming interface for batch and streaming data.

He added that googleConnect goes beyond office use as it also provides users with navigational information and direction in their daily activities.

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mr. Olude Olaseni and Mrs. Victoria Adeleye, said the training would enable them to create questionnaires with software and process data.
They appreciated the Governor Abiodun-led administration for its constant support for the State Bureau of Statistics since its establishment, saying the training would enable them to be abreast of international best practices.
