Ex-CDS, Adm. Ibrahim Ogohi is dead

A former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, has died following a brief illness.
According to family sources, Admiral Ogohi had been suffering from age-related ailments for several weeks before passing away at his home in Abuja early Sunday morning.

“Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi passed on to glory a few minutes ago, early Sunday morning,” a family source said.

Admiral Ogohi served as Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003. He was notable for being the first Naval officer to achieve the four-star rank in the Nigerian military and the first Chief of Defence Staff from the Navy.

Hailing from Okura, Lafia in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, the late Admiral left a significant legacy in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
